Tap into the "Power of Peers" this September as the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) presents a conference of compelling educational workshops, pre-and post-conference institutes and a lineup of renowned keynote speakers. The national conference will be held Sept. 10-14, 2008 in Norfolk, Virginia. DBSA offers a unique peer-centered perspective for individuals living the depression or bipolar disorder as well as for family members or health care providers looking for way to best help their loved ones, patients or clients by partnering with them on their path to recovery. Alternatives2008 is scheduled for Oct. 29-Nov. 2 at the Adams Mark Hotel in Buffalo, New York. This is an awesome conference that brings peers together to learn about all aspects of recovery. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

The first MAD heARTS Festival is scheduled for July 17-20, 2008 in Sarasota, Florida. The event will feature artwork by peers and workshops on developing one's creativity. For more information, go to: www.alteredstatesofthearts.com

Trauma-informed care will be the focus of a conference scheduled for July 11-12, 2008 in Washington, D.C. The conference is sponsored by the National Center for Trauma Informed Care (NCTIC) and organizers are currently accepting workshop proposeals. Mark your calendars...The NAPS National Conference for Peer Specialists is coming--August 20-22, 2008.  The NAPS 2nd Annual Conference will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel! The conference will feature a special institute offered by the University of Pennsylvania on August 19 at the Sheraton  Society Hill Hotel from 9 a.m. to Noon and 1:30 to 4 p.m. (refreshment breaks and lunch provided). The institute will cover the latest research on community integration and evaluations of peer support in the U.S.  More news to come....
